What does telc mean?

The abbreviation telc means “The European Language Certificates”. These are European language certificates that are recognized by many professional associations, universities, and institutions. The exams are designed and created by telc and they are based on the standard of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (GER).

Of course, you can also book a comprehensive telc preparation course as a private lesson. However, we offer an extra service in every German course in which we incorporate telc preparation exercises into our lessons. This means that we also integrate practice exams for the respective learning level during your normal courses. This will give you details about the individual sections of the exam from official telc examiners. You will learn the optimal approach, how to best manage your time and which aspects you should pay particular attention to.

Does a preparation course for my exam help?

Our analysis of the results has shown that 93.10% of all students who have attended a preparatory course in our school have passed the Telc exam. 56.76% passed the exam without a preparatory course. You do not need an additional course; the preparation is integrated in our intensive courses and complement each other perfectly. The basis of the telc exam consists of reading comprehension, listening comprehension and written communication. All of this is practiced and simulated in real time to get an accurate feel for the exam. Structure and duration and the exam

The exam consists of two parts, a written and an oral part. Reading comprehension, listening comprehension and written expression take place in the written part. This section takes about 3.5 hours. Then you will have a short break of 20 minutes. The oral part usually takes place as a group examination with 2-3 other participants. After 20 minutes of preparation, the official part of the oral exam takes 15-20 minutes.

What do I have to take with me to the exam?

You will need a pencil, sharpener, and eraser. Please also bring your ID / passport with you.

How often can I retake the exam?

You can retake the exam as often as you like.

Are there exam appointments outside of the scheduled times?

You are welcome to send us your preferred date for a separate telc exam. We will then check whether we have the minimum number of participants for an unscheduled test and whether we can carry out the test on your desired date, if that is not possible, we will make you a separate offer to take your exam.

Is there a minimum number of participants?

A minimum of 3 participants is required for the preparatory course and the exam.

How long will it take to get my result?

You will receive the exam result and certificate about 5-6 weeks after the test. The exam is corrected at the telc Institute in Frankfurt, so that the Sprachschule Aktiv Köln has no influence on the correction time required and assumes no liability.

Should I expect additional costs?

The telc exam fees include all costs except for an additional registration fee of € 15.
